Tijdens deze muzikale reis zal je het enigma van Johannes Sebastian Bach als inspiratie voor de muziek van de 20e-eeuwse Paul Hindemith en Max Reger ontdekken. Wat verbindt deze werken met Bachs werken die 200 jaar eerder geschreven werden? Wat maakt dat deze componisten zo dicht en tegelijk ook zo ver van elkaar staan? En hoe maakt de verbinding met Bach hun muziek toegankelijker dan eerst gedacht?
De korte intermezzo’s van metaforen die het dagelijks leven weerspiegelen zetten de componisten hun gelijkenissen alsook hun verschillen in de verf. Dit programma neemt het publiek mee doorheen het verhaal en wijst zo uw oren de richting naar een nieuw perspectief.

This musical journey will uncover the enigma of Johann Sebastian Bach as an inspiration for 20th-century composers Paul Hindemith and Max Reger. What connects their works with Bach’s compositions written 200 years prior? How is their music so similar yet so different? And how can we use the connection to Bach to make their music more approachable? By accompanying the music with short metaphorical stories mirroring everyday life, highlighting the composers’ similarities as well as different approaches, this programme engages the audience allowing them to open their ears and view the music in a new light.
